Do you sit in the car while your child is at practice? The Ringette Federation challenges families to get moving!

The Finnish Ringette Federation’s Finland on the Move project aims to increase everyday activity and encourage family members to stay active during children’s hobbies. The project especially inspires the families and friends of ringette players to find new ways to move, for example, near the ice rink. This ensures that attending practices doesn’t mean just sitting in the stands or the car. The goal is to integrate small but impactful steps toward well-being into everyday life.

Ringette clubs and the Federation supporting family activity

The Ringette Federation and its member clubs aim to offer families opportunities to be active and spend time together during children’s hobbies. Clubs can inspire families to move by sharing tips and encouragement for self-directed activity or organizing guided group exercise sessions. This way, clubs can support the broader well-being of both children and their families.

In October, the Ringette Federation invited ringette-playing families to an active family day at Kisakallio. The day offered various activities where every family member could find a way to participate, move, and enjoy being together.

– The day was full of joy and energy. We want to encourage our clubs to offer low-threshold opportunities for families to engage in shared activities – the ringette community can play a very active role in supporting family well-being locally, commented Tytti Järvinen, Development Manager at the Ringette Federation.

The next Federation-organized event is already on the calendar and will be held on March 1, 2025, at Kisakallio. Before that, the spotlight will shift to ringette clubs, which have been challenged to join in the family activity theme week.

Moving together gives the chance to shine!

The Family Activity Theme Week will take place starting November 4, aiming to encourage families to move together. The theme week’s slogan, “Moving together gives the chance to shine,” invites family members of all ages to participate.

During the theme week, the Ringette Federation encourages all its member clubs to organize a themed session for the Family Ringette School. These events will be highlighted on social media.
